On Wednesday 4th March, the third final of the IFE Cheshire Group Lecturette Competition took place at Safety Central.
The finalists, Nantwich Cadet Roma Street, Widnes Cadet Lara Cook, Stockton Heath Cadet Jess Johnson, Congleton Cadet Joshua Vaughan, Middlewich Cadet Amy Teszke, Northwich Cadet Joe Mills and Chester Cadet Sam Moody all took to the stage to deliver presentations to service colleagues, cadets, volunteers and guests.
It was a fantastic event, with presentations delivered on a range of fire-related subjects including; The Fire Fighters Charity, Gender Inequality, PPE Cleaning, Fire Extinguishers, Fire Safety in the Home and Backdrafts. The audience came away feeling satisfied that they’d learnt something new, with all cadets putting in a great effort.
At the end of the night, Roma Street was crowned the winner with her presentation on ‘A Cadets Journey’. Roma went home with the winner’s IFE paperweight and a £200 gift voucher.
Second prize went to Lara Cook who received a £100 gift voucher and an IFE paperweight.
Third prize went to Jess Johnson who received a £50 gift voucher and an IFE paperweight.
Roma will have the opportunity to represent Cheshire at the North Western Branch Regional IFE Cadet Lecturette Competition later this year, where she will go head-to-head with representatives from Fire Services Cadet schemes in the North West.
