In July 2019 four IFE Board Directors reach the end of their terms of office. Two of these vacancies will be filled by ballot of members of the International General Assembly (IGA) and one by ballot of members of the IFE Registrants Group (IFERG). The fourth vacancy will be filled by ballot amongst all voting members of the IFE.
Requirements of an IFE Board Director
Directors of the IFE are also Trustees of the charity. Their responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the IFE’s overall strategic direction is in line with its aims and the requirement to provide public benefit
- Good governance, including legal and regulatory compliance
- Due diligence to ensure the financial health and satisfactory financial audit of the Institution
- Corporate risk identification and management
- Review/approval of annual accounts
The IFE is currently registered as a company and charity in Scotland, which means that Directors are required to act in accordance with the Companies Act 2006 and the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005. In addition, Trustees may have portfolios of work based on key areas of IFE activities, taking a strategic lead in an area identified by the Board and assigned to them by the Chairman.

In accordance with our Articles of Association, no nominees may go forward to the ballot unless and until they have been approved by the Nominations Committee. The criteria which the Committee will use to determine which nominees should go forward to the ballot are set out on the nomination form.
