Mandatory CPD checking for Engineering Council Registrants

Carrying out regular CPD is recommended for all IFE members; however those who are also registered with the Engineering Council (EngC) are obliged to undertake CPD as part of the registration agreement. Each year, all Professional Engineering Institutions (PEIs), including the IFE, are required by the Engineering Council to select a random sample of their EngC registrants’ CPD.

The process of the 2019 random CPD sampling will shortly begin and those selected will be contacted in early December so if you are a registered CEng, IEng or EngTech we would suggest that you ensure that your CPD record is up to date.

Those selected will be asked to send in their CPD record for the last year which must demonstrate that skills are being kept current and that CPD activity is relevant to fire engineering. The monitoring and auditing of the sample will be carried out at IFE Head Office by a Panel made up of members of the IFE Registrants’ Group and feedback will be given to those selected.

The CPD can be submitted in any format however many members are now making use of mycareerpath® which is available to all current members of the IFE within the MyIFE portal where a User Guide can also be downloaded. The IFE’s CPD guidance and paper based recording template are also available on our website if preferred.

If you require assistance or have any feedback regarding mycareerpath® please contact membership@ife.org.uk.
