The IFE was saddened to hear of the news that Dr Cortez Lawrence JD PhD FIFireE sadly passed away on 3 January 2017.
During his career, Dr Lawrence served in Alabama local government fire services and as the director of national fire programs at the United States Fire Administration. He was heavily involved in fire service accreditation programs with the Centre for Public Safety Excellence.
Earlier in his career, Lawrence served as Deputy Director of the Public Safety Department for the City of Auburn, Alabama, and worked as a fire marshal for the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., and at assignments worldwide. He was a retired U.S. Army officer and Vietnam veteran.
Dr Lawrence also served several years as Superintendent of the FEMA Emergency Management Institute and had been a valued member of the IFE for over 30 years, where he was also a Chartered member of the USA Branch.
The IFE wish to express their appreciation for Dr Lawrence’s involvement and contribution to the IFE and send their condolences to Dr Lawrence’s family at this sad time.
